Mamma’s Italian Treats

In my house everybody is always hungry and I always have to be in the kitchen. I don’t post everything that I cook, otherwise this would be a 7 days blog with two posts a day! sometimes even three ahahahah! Yes, I have a male crew here who are always ready for more and never give me a break. And the worst part is that they want my food… and has to be Italian… ok!

gnocchi alla romana are always so good option for a first courseGnocchi alla Romana is the recipe for today and as I said it on the video, everybody loves it! It’s delicious and you can serve as first course, like traditionally in Italy. As the name itself says, it’s a traditional dish from Rome and it differs from the gnocchi di patate because this one is made with semolina. So, for my Italian followers, don’t get scared with the sizes of my gnocchi. They have to be a little over size because my family have an over size hunger for gnocchi!!

delicious over size home made gnocchi alla romana The recipe is super simple but I manged to get so confused in the video… that I hope you understand it. If not, just leave me a message and I’ll get back to you asap. I’m not so familiar with videos and of course I got a bit embarrassed. So, let’s try to improve for the next videos my friends! I must also say that gnocchi alla romana is not so known because it’s a traditional recipe that we make at home and not so many restaurants have them in their menu. It’s a home made regional dish.

delicious over size home made gnocchi alla romana Here are the Ingredients for gnocchi for about 4 normal people:

1 liter of milk

200 gr of semolina (not the thin)

200 gr of grated Parmiggiano Reggiano or Grana Padano

200 gr of butter

Fresh sage or dry if you don’t find it.

Pinch of nutmeg

A table spoon of salt

Bring milk to a boil. When it’s boiling, put a table spoon of salt and start pouring the semolina slowly and whisking always. Then, as you can see in the video, you can use ONLY ONE, I repeat, 1 table spoon of butter and keep the rest for the sauce. The same with the parmesan cheese: 1 table spoon and the rest for the top of the gnocchi when they go to the oven.

Spread the dough in a tray. Let it cool down. Cut them as you wish. Place the gnocchi in a tray and melt the rest of the butter and cut the sage and let it fry a little bit. Pour that melted butter on the top of the gnocchi and top them with grated parmesan. Put them in the oven for about 30 min or until they have that crispy color.

Hope you like it and see you soon with another super delicious recipe from myblackbike.com

Receita em portugues:

1 litro de leite

200 gr de semolina

200 gr de Parmiggiano Reggiano ou Grana Padano

200 gr de manteiga

1 colher de sopa de sal

noz moscada

salvia fresca

Hello just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two
different browsers and both show the same outcome.
